In an interview with Eurogamer
, Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens has confirmed that Operation Flashpoint: Red River
and Dirt 3
are scheduled for release in Q2 2011.
By doing so, it seems the developer/publisher has opted to avoid going into battle with rival titles, such as Killzone 3
and the inevitable next instalment in the Call of Duty series, as the CEO stated:
"I don't think it does any good to publish in a congested period when everyone's putting out their shooters..."
In addition to the information surrounding the release of Operation Flashpoint: Red River
and Dirt 3
, Rod Cousens continued by outlining a pretty straightforward release strategy which Codemasters has planned for the coming years:
"We're not difficult to predict... "If DiRT comes out next year, GRID will come out the following year, and then DiRT will be out the year after that. So you can map us out."
Also, the team at Codemasters will be working flat-out as they have expectations of creating a new F1 game every year, as well as a new Operation Flashpoint title every two years.
All in all, it sounds like the Codemasters' offices will be busy places for the foreseeable!
