Airship Syndicate are pleased to announce that the funding goal for their upcoming classic style JRPG Battle Chasers: Nightwar
has been well and truly crushed. Backers have helped Airship Syndicate smash the $500,000 goal as the kickstarted title currently sits very pretty at $775,792 from just over 13,000 backers.
Inspired by "classic console greats" such as "Final Fantasy
, Chrono Trigger
, and Phantasy Star
", the upcoming title will feature turn-based combat as players will dive deep into the many dungeons, find loads of secrets, and enjoy a very filling story. Former Vigil Games
developers, as well as two of Vigil's co-founders Joe Madureira and Ryan Stefanelli, will be handling the game's creation.
Choose your hero, grab the right gear for your backpack, select the best equipment and abilities for your hero, and then head on out. Players will explore an overworld where rare bosses will appear to do battle and friends and foes will appear at random. The combat will be old-school and include a unique "two-tiered mana system" and turn-based initiative. Random buffs and debuffs will also feature as part of the combat on the initiative slots.
The story itself promises to be non-linear. As players explore randomly-generated dungeons filled with the usual traps, puzzles and secrets, each new discovery will provide deeper insight into the mysteries of the Lost Vale. Discover secret items, landmarks and secret elements to be rewarded with lore points that can be used to upgrade your heroes' abilities.
Here's more details on the story from the Kickstarter page
The Lost Continent
The Grey Line. An impenetrable wall of mist hovering over the West Waters, stretching endless from north to south, and towering from ocean crest to dark sky above.
Nothing has ever come from, or survived entering, the historic monolith. The great hero Aramus felt a calling from the Grey Line and crossed, despite the dangers. And like countless warriors, vagabonds, fugitives and fortune seekers before him, never returned. Now, his daughter Gully and her unlikely band of adventurers venture into the mist to uncover her father’s mission.
Along the way they'll meet friend and foe alike while piecing together the silent history of the Grey Line, and the dark secrets within.
