In August, we brought you the sad news
that Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries
would no longer be making its way to the Xbox One, following the announcement that developer GRIN had been dismantled as well as having to apply for bankruptcy. Because of this, Woolfe
and all related assets were put up for sale at auction.
Now for the good news, Oxford based independent games studio, Rebellion, known for the Sniper Elite
series, Zombie Army Trilogy
, and the Aliens vs Predator
games, has announced that they have acquired the title as well as some of the unsent merchandise and backer rewards, meaning they will “be able to provide all outstanding physical add-on rewards at no further cost to backers”.
For console gamers, this acquisition may not mean too much, but the following statement from the game's Kickstarter page does at least show that the new owner has the title's future in mind.
For now it’s too early to say if we’ll be able to support the original Woolfe game in the future. That includes development of the previously mooted console versions, but we’ll be sure to look at and consider all possibilities as we evaluate what to do next.
While this doesn't present a firm answer to whether or not we may eventually see Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries
on consoles, it does offer a glimmer of hope. Full details of Rebellion's acquisition of the title can be found on the game's Kickstarter page, here.
