Spooky Sidescroller Oxenfree Coming in 2016

By Mark Delaney, 1 year ago
Way back in March, we detailed the announcement of a new sidescrolling adventure game called OXENFREE. Billing itself as equal parts Poltergeist and Stand By Me, Oxenfree is a tale of a group of coming-of-age friends who head to a pacific northwestern island for a fun weekend of youth and carelessness. It turns out the island is a decommissioned WWII bunker and they awaken something that had been lurking there, something inhuman.

We weren't sure at the beginning of the year which consoles would play home to Oxenfree, but the studio has confirmed now that it's coming to Xbox One and Windows 10. The team behind the game, Night School Studio, also just wrapped up an interview with Xbox Wire that dives further into the backstory of the game. Along with this platform confirmation comes a new trailer.

Lastly, a release window has also been revealed. Look for it early next year. It's scheduled for a January release.
