TA Stats - October 19th to 25th 2015

By Chewie, 1 year ago
This report is for the period October 19th to 25th 2015.
Welcome to the stats from the back end of October here on TA with one of the biggest franchise releases of the year making its impact.

The Big Numbers
59,422 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 82,886 games between them (2,021 different games).

15,169 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 19,926 games between them (1,182 different games).

137,459 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,667,087 achievements online between them (54,511 different achievements).

Xbox One
New release Assassin's Creed Syndicate smashes into the top spot with 10,200 starters and four spots on Achievements Won, sharing the rest of the table with Games with Gold freebie The Walking Dead, which itself manages a respectable 9,600 starters. The other major release of the week, Guitar Hero Live, grabs third with 3,700 starters, which is around 1,500 fewer than Rock Band 4 managed two weeks prior. Unfortunately, Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, Just Dance: Disney Party 2, Just Dance 2016, Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations, Forced and NOW That’s What I Call Sing all don't make the table, although Halo 5: Guardians does manage to sneak into ninth before its official release date to a plethora of early review copies.

It's the week of the Adventure game as not only do recent releases Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series and Back to the Future: The Game - 30th Anniversary Edition remain on the Started table alongside The Walking Dead, but thanks to the release of their final episodes Tales from the Borderlands and Life Is Strange lead on Completed with 5,100 and 2,400 completions each. The Walking Dead joins that party too in third with just twenty fewer than Life Is Strange.

Sales also give The Swapper and Thomas Was Alone boosts in completions in seventh and ninth whilst Destiny appears for the first time since "The Taken King" was released in fifth with over 500 completions. Similarly, recent DLC puts The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in tenth.

Xbox 360
With many of the new releases not making it to the 360, it's up to Games with Gold to continue to lead the way, though Guitar Hero Live (Xbox 360) nor Just Dance 2016 (Xbox 360) make appearances. Freebies Crysis 3 and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbox 360) lead and grab a few spots on Achievements Won. The Taken King has the biggest impact on that table though, claiming seven spots and pushing Destiny (Xbox 360) up into fifth on Completed.

With the sequel around the corner, sales help push Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 into third and tenth on Started as players grab them cheap to see what all the fuss is about. The sale does the same for Saints Row, putting it in fourth with 120 starters.

XBLA
With the freeness of The Walking Dead (Xbox 360) being replicated across the One and the 360, it naturally takes the top spots on XBLA on both Started and Completed, as well as sweeping clean Achievements Won. The final episode releases for Tales from the Borderlands (Xbox 360) and Life Is Strange (Xbox 360) have a similar effect here as on the One, grabbing second and third on Completed. Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series (Xbox 360) also appears in fourth due to only the first episode being scanned in on the 360, unlike the One version, which has all the episodes.

Windows
Windows doesn't give us much to shout about with recent release Microsoft Bingo (Win 10) sitting behind perennial leader Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP).

Windows Phone
Windows Phone on the other hand brings us a new release with Runemals (WP) grabbing over 650 starters and the top half of Achievements Won. Bringing with it the usual free-to-play grind, it doesn't even get a glimpse at the Completed table.

Genres
I told you that this week was Adventure week. All those recent new releases, new episodes and freebies shoot Adventure up into the second place position, within reaching distance of Action-Adventure. Guitar Hero also puts Music & Rhythm onto the table in seventh.
