In the last several decades of storytelling, we've certainly learned that there are few things scarier than a religious horror. The Omen
, The Exorcist
, Rosemary's Baby
, and televangelists have all shown us just how terrifying worship can become. Red Barrels Studios' debut title, Outlast
, hinted at the horrors of overzealous church-goers before taking its tale down another path. It appears the sequel, Outlast 2
, now slated for release in 2016, is returning to that fork in the road and going down the 'religion is scary' route. This trailer doesn't reveal much other than an emphatic sermon reminiscent of the monster Jim Jones, but it also would be incomplete without the game's now signature night vision camera.
is scheduled for release about a year from now, in fall 2016, on Xbox One.
