The lean and mean fighting machine "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey, who was the undefeated UFC champion with 12 wins before her recent loss to Holly Holm, will be the lead cover athlete on the cover of EA's upcoming EA SPORTS UFC 2
. Ronda is understandably excited about being chosen for the cover of the upcoming title but it is well-deserved as Ronda is "the most dominant and recognized fighter in the world". Here's what Ronda had to say in regards to the cover announcement:
EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment. As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.
UFC 2 aims to deliver "stunning character likeness" and animation that is not like anything they have done before. The all-new "Knockout Physics System" and realistic gameplay features are also set to impress, as well as the "biggest roster" of real-world fighters ready to stop into the deadly Octagon.
Creative Director Brian Hayes pays attention to his corner with some more info on the influence behind the new features:
Like any champion fighter going into their next fight, we listened to our corner – in our case, the fans – and took a detailed look at everything we can do to take the fight game to a whole new level. We’re doing that by introducing innovative gameplay features, delivering a game mode for every fighter regardless of their style of play, and adding helpful tools so fans can master MMA, all while producing the jaw-dropping visuals that fans expect.
Five new game modes will be the main highlight in UFC 2, including KO Mode and UFC Ultimate Team, a "revamped Career Mode" where players can create their very own female fighters, a feature never-before seen in a UFC title. Grapple Assist, an integrated visual tool, will aid players in learn and achieve perfect takedowns, ground game transitions, and submissions.
