Horror stories have a way of ruining the things we love. For years they've made going to church, camping, road trips, and so many other usually happy times seem so deadly. Not even basic physiological wins like sleeping and casual sex have been spared by the cold, wretched hands of scary stories. Funcom's The Park
takes its turn at ruining something we love, choosing to make a trip to the theme park seem vile and sinister.
In the game, players take on the role of a woman named Lorraine, whose son goes missing inside an amusement park with a dark history. Her maternal instincts set her on his trail into the dilapidated and possibly (probably) haunted park. The Park
debuted on PC about a month ago and quickly became a hit on YouTube and Twitch streams. It's described by the studio as "a one to two hour long first-person psychological horror experience focusing on intense storytelling and exploration instead of combat and action." You can see a launch trailer for the ID@Xbox title below.
The Park has no concrete release date, but it's expected to arrive in early 2016.
