The Fullbright Company has announced that Gone Home
will be coming to the Xbox One early next year. The game was originally announced for consoles back in March 2014
, but financial troubles at independent publisher Majesco left the port in limbo and "not actively in development."
The Xbox One version of Gone Home
uses the Unity 5 engine, instead of Unity 4 which was used for the original PC version. The game will also feature 90 minutes worth of behind-the-scenes developer commentary.
Steve Gaynor, the writer and designer of Gone Home
, and the co-founder of Fullbright
, shared the news:
Ever since Gone Home came out we’ve wanted to be able to bring it to people who maybe aren’t PC gamers, or don’t have a good enough computer, or who just want to play in their living room, maybe to share the experience with a friend or loved one from the comfort of their couch. Our goal wasn’t to add or change things, but just to bring the game that players know & love onto consoles in the best possible form we could.Gone Home
is set to release on the Xbox One on January 12th, 2016. Gaynor, in response to a question of the game's price, claimed that the plan at this point is launch it at $19.99.
