GTASC 2016 Registration Now Open - Last 24 Hours!

UPDATE: You have until 4pm on Thursday 7th GMT to register for this event!

The start of a new year means one thing for many TA members: another chance to compete in the GTASC (Great TrueAchievements Score Challenge. Before we get in to the details of how to enter for next year's event, I'd like to send congratulations to this year's winners, Straight up Gankers who won the team contest, and RedmptionDenied who came out on top in the individual challenge.

As with each of the previous years, the format of the contest for 2016 has been slightly adjusted. This year's team competition will see the return of four member teams, similar to 2014, and there is also the addition of a bench system that will allow for vacation time in both the team and individual contests.

GTASC 2016

What are the requirements for participating?

- Have a Xbox LIVE Gamertag with at least 20,000 GamerScore.
- Have a TrueAchievements account in good standing for a minimum of six months.
- Register on the contest hub: The Great TrueAchievement Score Challenge 2016 to enter the event.

How does scoring work?

When you unlock achievements and then scan them into TrueAchievements, your score is recalculated and your score rises based on the new achievements earned. You will notice that your score on TrueAchievements changes from day to day even if you don't unlock any achievements. This fluctuation is also taken into account as regards your score for the period. New games often have TA scores that inflate rapidly and then slowly drop down as more and more gamers complete them. This needs to be taken into consideration when choosing which games to play and when. Also, any achievements unlocked while disconnected from LIVE will not count toward your score. You can play however and whenever you wish, but to keep a level playing field we are only counting achievements won while online in the contest.

For each scoring period, all scores reset at the new time of noon GMT Sunday, which is usually 7am US Eastern Sunday morning. At that time, the lowest scoring teams and individuals will be removed from the competition. It is up to each team or individual to keep themselves above the bar come the end of the period. Any teams or individuals below that bar at the end of the period will not enter into the next.

What has changed?

This year we will be offering a bench system to help those who may have emergencies or family vacations. Each Team and Individual will be given a free bench with the opportunity to earn another. Use of a bench will save your team (or yourself if used on the solo side) for that period.

The team size has been increased to 4. Grab an extra friend or go with a whole new crew.

The periods start and end on Sunday at NOON GMT. This is 12 hours later than previous years.

Badges are worth bonus points and there will be more bonuses in the mix this year.

So how do I make a team?

If you are looking to participate only in the solo event, simply registering will throw your hat into the ring.

If you are looking to participate as a team, one member will take on the role of Captain for the purposes of recruiting teammates. Team captains create a team on the Hub Page and invite teammates. Teammates are sent a PM and can join the team through that message.

If you don't have enough friends that wish to enter the contest, you can still join one of our randomly created teams.

Visit the GTASC Hub Page for more information and access to the leaderboard.

GTASC 2016 starts on Sunday 10th of January at noon GMT.
