It's the start of a new year and Microsoft has made the most of a quiet news period to announce their release schedule for some of their upcoming exclusive titles.
We'll start with everybody's favourite Lancer-wielding COG soldiers. Gears of War 4
, previously advertised to be released during the Holiday 2016 season, has now been brought forward to Fall 2016. The multiplayer beta for the title will be unleashed to the public in Spring 2016. Meanwhile, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Win 10)
will also be released this Spring.
Revealed at E3 2015 for the Xbox One, Armature Studios' ReCore
has now been confirmed for Windows 10 too. Interestingly, Microsoft hasn't stated anything more specific than the very general 2016 release window for both platforms, suggesting that the game has been delayed away from the Spring window that had been previously announced.
Also revealed at E3 2015, Rare's Sea of Thieves
was previously without a release date. This game will definitely be arriving this year on both Xbox One and Windows 10.
A new season of fighters will soon be upon us for Killer Instinct
. Season 3 will launch for Xbox One in March 2016. Microsoft has stated that this season will also release for Windows 10 during the same month, suggesting that Killer Instinct (Win 10)
is not far away either.
Finally, we have a confirmed release date for Cobalt
. Announced back in August 2013, the 2.5 year wait for the ID@Xbox title will end on February 2nd. The game will be released on Xbox 360 on the same date. The Windows 10 version was not mentioned, but we'll be sure to let you know if we hear anything else.
