Kinect Sells One Million Units In Ten Days

Microsoft announced that one million Kinect units were sold in just ten days of Kinect being released, helping them towards their huge target of five million Kinects sold by the end of the year 2010.

Here is a part of the press release quoting Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft:

We are appreciative of the response we have seen from consumers that has culminated in sales of more than 1 million units in the first 10 days on the market for Kinect for Xbox 360.

This is a great start to the holiday season, and we will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver against our plan to sell more than 5 million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year.
Kinect has done impressively well so far in North America and Europe, but it's yet to be released in Asia (November 18th), Australia, (November 19th) and Japan (November 20th).

Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of the home entertainment group at Best Buy, also had a say in the press release speaking about the success of Kinect from the retailers side of things:

We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for Kinect for Xbox 360. There were lines of customers at our stores all over the country on the night of the Kinect launch, and thousands more are trying it for themselves in our stores every day. It’s no surprise Microsoft has already surpassed 1 million units sold, and we expect Kinect to be one of the must-have gifts at Best Buy this holiday.
Unquestionably, Kinect is selling well, and as for the 'five million units sold' target, maybe they should change it to ten million? Not to mention how well some of the Kinect games have sold so far, according to vgchartz:

After which was bundled with Kinect Sensors;

Kinect Sports has sold around 440,000 units worldwide.
Dance Central has sold almost 200,000 units worldwide.
Kinectimals, Fighters Uncaged and Motionsports have each sold around 100,000 units worldwide.

Black Friday is almost upon us, too, so discounts on Xboxs with Kinect could be a nice bargain for anyone who is interested.
