Unbox Bringing Self-Delivering Mail To Xbox One

By Mark Delaney, 2 years ago
A little while ago I visited the staff boards, checked what news needed to be written, and found a game called Unbox had been announced. 'That would be funny if the game was based on those unboxing videos on YouTube,' I thought to myself. As it turns out, the game isn't that, but it's arguably no less absurd conceptually.

Unbox is a 3D physics-based puzzler where players take control of packages in the mail, and proceed to deliver themselves. If you thought Amazon's drone delivery was on the cutting edge, it's already obsolete. The developers, UK's independent Prospect Games, promise a variety of environments, character customization, up to four-player local co-op, and lots of different game modes beyond the traditional single-player mode. The title was previously greenlit by the Steam community. Today's announcement is that console gamers will get to play too. This reveal trailer highlights all of these things, as delightfully weird as they are.

The multiplayer modes include:

Collect: Grab the most tape. Where will it appear next?!
Delivery: Race to the finish. Watch out for water!
Boxing: Shoot, shoot, and shoot some more!
Thief: Steal coins, ruin friendships!
Oddbox: Become most wanted and avoid the hunters!
Unbox will be out for delivery later this year. You can track your packages here on TA as we approach the game's release.
