SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Arrives Spring 2011

EA have announced that the follow up to smash hit Need for Speed: SHIFT is set for a Spring 2011 release date. It was inevitable with the original title allegedly shifting 'close to five million copies' worldwide.

Adopting an all caps approach and most notably dropping the Need For Speed (or even NFS) prefix, the shouty loudy title SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED is in development by Slightly Mad Studio. Executive producer Marcus Nilsson has big promises in his initial statement:

SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED is redefining immersive racing by blending the rush of tearing up the track at unbelievable speeds with the emotional experience of competitive battle. We are also working closely with real-world performance drivers to ensure that SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED captures their experience and becomes the benchmark in authentic racing action.
The press release continues to inject adrenaline and excitement into every word following this with:

In SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED, players’ hands sweat and ache as they clutch onto the controller [and] their pulse races from the break-neck speeds experienced through the first-person cockpit view.
To accompany these bold claims EA have released a debut trailer which you can see below.
