Oddworld: Soulstorm Announced

Announced via their website, publisher Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. are looking to bring a sweet variety of pain and suffering to platforming fans as Oddworld: Soulstorm could be making its way to the Xbox One. Following up on Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, the story picks up from Abe's genesis and continues from the "overthrow of RuptureFarms" and successful liberation of his workmates, who would have undoubtedly suffered some horrible deaths along the way.

After taking down his former boss, Molluck The Glukkon, Abe finds himself in a whole new degree of trouble as he and his 300 Mudokons are stranded alone in the desert with no food, water or shelter. After discovering a strange new brew, the Mudokons enjoy the drink that has "insidious ramifications for their newfound freedom". Lorne Lanning, the series creator, goes into more detail on the direction of the story:

There was a deeper, darker, and more sinister story that we never got to tell. Soulstorm gives us the opportunity to flesh out more meat on the bones of an original spine, but re-tell the fable from a very different angle.
Abe has a long way to go and plenty more adversity ahead. Soulstorm is going to be a much heavier trip for him.
Bennie Terry, executive producer, is confident fans of the series will enjoy the upcoming story:

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve got planned for Soulstorm. We think Oddworld fans are really going to dig what we’re brewing, and we’ve got some great surprises in store this time around we don’t think anybody’s going to predict. I've been tasting it, and it's definitely got twice the twisted flavor.
There are no screens or videos to check out just yet, but thanks to keen followers of Oddworld Inhabitants, the team has revealed a screen of Abe's hand:

Oddworld: Soulstorm is currently scheduled for a late 2017 release but information on specific platform releases is yet to be announced. We will keep you guys posted when this information becomes available.
