First Look at Space Hulk: Deathwing Gameplay

By Kelly Packard,
The doors of the aircraft open, revealing a grim-looking environment. You and your crew carefully patrol along, feeling the weight of your enormous armor with every step. These are the inaugural moments of the first peek into Space Hulk: Deathwing gameplay.

Space Hulk: Deathwing is an upcoming first person shooter set in the massive Warhammer 40,000 universe. Specifically, it's an adaptation of the Space Hulk board game, where the Blood Angels Terminators Assault Squad battle against the ruthless Tyranid Genestealers. According to the trailer, the game is infused with a lot of lore, and the areas your team will explore are based on specific ships from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

For those who couldn't care less about lore, there are plenty of grisly enemies and brutal weapons to keep you busy nonetheless. The trailer also promises plenty of Easter eggs and a "localized damage system," where instead of having a general health bar, players will have to pay attention to the status of different parts of their armor. The video uses the example of if your right arm is damaged, you won't be able to fire your weapon.

Space Hulk: Deathwing lands sometime in 2016.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Space Hulk: Deathwing achievements.
