Mafia III Trailer Takes Us On a Joy Ride

By Mark Delaney, 1 year ago
Capturing the atmosphere of a time and place better than postcards can do is something the Mafia series has always hung its hat on. When Mafia III releases this fall, it'll take us out of post-WWII Empire City, a New York City analog, and head south to Vietnam era New Bordeaux, a New Orleans-inspired city on the bayou. Getting around the city and managing your criminal empire just wouldn't be possible without the period-accurate vehicles.

This new video features a few devs from the newly formed Hangar 13 to talk about how they aim to capture the sometimes deadly weight and momentum of a moving vehicle. Inspired by Bullitt and other Steve McQueen-led films of the era, they're hoping to give players a chance to carve out their own high intensity chase sequences.

Mafia III releases worldwide on October 7th.
