Following the release of the official trailer
for the upcoming Far Harbor
DLC for Fallout 4
, Bethesda has given us a closer look at the island of Far Harbor along with additional information and concept screens to admire.
First off, several of the designers for Fallout 4
put together a quick video talking about new additions coming with the new DLC as well as some of the motivation behind the DLC's feel and aesthetic:
Far Harbor is an island located in Maine, just north of the Commonwealth and is engulfed in radiation. With it being the largest landmass Bethesda have ever created for an add-on to a game, it comes with a slew of new additions. One of these additions is a companion known as Longfellow that you can run into during your stay on the island.
The new landmass will also bring new creatures that you will encounter on your journey, including the Fog Crawler and the Angler. The Fog Crawler is a creature who stands taller than a Deathclaw, and is equipped with two large pincers that can tear you to shreds, whereas the Angler is an amphibious monster who hides just beneath the surface of the water, waiting for its prey to come too close. Both new creatures can be seen below:
To deal with all these new scenarios, the DLC will also bring some new weapons and armour that fit the aesthetic of the island, as well as new settlements, factions and of course a handful of tough choices to make. To get a feel for the vision Bethesda had in the making of "Far Harbor" they have shown off some of the concept art they were working with:
