Melee Combat RPG Absolver Announced

Independent studio Sloclap, which is comprised of former Ubisoft developers who worked on franchises such as Watch_Dogs and Ghost Recon, have announced their debut project Absolver. Published by Devolver Digital, Absolver is described as an online melee combat RPG featuring "fluid real-time combat" in both solo duels and three-on-three battles.

Set in the ruins of the fallen Adal Empire, players are thrust into the role of a Prospect, or one who has joined an "elite corps of combatants" known as Absolvers in their mission of fighting to maintain stability in the world. While encountering other Prospects online, players will "learn new combat styles and attacks, and acquire better weapons, powers and armor." Every character will also be further defined by a combat style, weapon, and various attacks set in their Combat Deck.

Players will seamlessly encounter one another in the world, both in PvP and PvE settings. Those looking for a competitive challenge can head to battle arenas where "champions will receive spoils of victory and progress in the ranks of the Absolvers." Alternatively, players can cooperatively raid dungeons in search of rare loot and equipment.

Absolver is scheduled to come to PC and consoles in 2017.
