More news has begun to come to light for upcoming game The Surge
from the developers at Deck13. Not only have they released a couple more screenshots, but they also have given more details about the combat system in the new Action RPG.
Did someone say futuristic robotic enemies?
In The Surge
, players will take on the role of Warren, a lowly factory employee equipped with a job mandated exoskeleton. Of course, it ends up not being a normal day at the office and said exoskeleton becomes a means to defend, fight and survive.
A tense, heavily armed standoff.
The combat system is fast-paced, but with a tactical edge thanks to a limb targeting system that is the primary feature. As you attack and remove certain components of the enemy (either armor or limbs), you accrue materials to upgrade your exo-suit. The major combat decision seems to be going for an easy kill, or opting for a more prolonged fight in order to get more crafting materials.
Of course, as the pictures above show, your opponents are fairly well armed themselves so the fights won't necessarily be cakewalks. The Surge
is going to be showcased at E3 in a mere couple of weeks, at which point we will certainly learn more about it. Currently, the game is scheduled to release in 2017 on Xbox One.
