The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Receives Overhaul With Patch 1.20 (Updated)

By Ben Terrett, 1 year ago
As CD Projekt Red get ready to say goodbye to Geralt and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with the "Blood and Wine" DLC, they have detailed the coming changes in patch 1.20. Along with the expected bug squishing, there is a substantial overhaul of the game's UI, with notable redesigns of the inventory and crafting systems. While these changes were somewhat unexpected, the community feedback so far has been very positive, with many long-lamented issues being resolved with this redesign.

Another curious addition, which I'm sure will be well received by the TrueAchievements community, is an in game book that will reveal how many Gwent cards are missing from your deck. Not only that, it will also show which region the missing cards can be found, and how many are from generic players (innkeepers, merchants, etc.). This will certainly make unlocking the Card Collector achievement substantially easier.

You can read the full change log right here, including details on where to obtain the Gwent book mentioned above.

CD Projekt Red have stated that the patch will go live prior to the release of "Blood and Wine" on May 31st. It does appear though that Microsoft let the patch out a little early, with many gamers in the US reporting the patch downloading on Friday.

It's unclear at this time whether the patch that slipped out is the final version, so if you have it downloaded, it's probably wise to keep a backup of your save. We'll update this post as soon as the patch is live worldwide.

Update - The 1.20 patch should be live now for all platforms as of 11:00 AM EST Monday.
