SMITE Celebrates 20 Million Player Milestone with Free Gems and Bellona Skin

The third-person MOBA SMITE recently reached a milestone of 20 million unique players. Hi-Rez will be sharing the love with the community in the form of a three-day event.

This weekend, SMITE players can enjoy 50 free gems per day for completing three first wins of the day. That's up to 150 gems for the weekend, worth about $3.00 USD in SMITE currency. It will begin at 5 a.m. EDT on Friday, June 3rd, and end Monday morning at 5 a.m. EDT, June 6th.

There's one more thing, too — redeem the code #20MILLION at the in-game store to receive Bellona and her Battle Maiden skin for free.

This is commendable growth considering SMITE reached 10 million players in July 2015 and four million players in June 2014. The player count has ballooned since its 2012 PC open beta that ran until its official launch in March 2014, helped along by expanding to Xbox One in 2015 and PlayStation 4 in 2016.

For those eagerly awaiting more SMITE content, Patch 3.9: Viking Invasion already landed on PC, so Xbox players should expect to see it soon. The patch includes a new event to replace "Escape from the Underworld" and a rework of Ratatoskr. Patch 3.10, including the new god Fafnir, is already playable in the test client on PC, so expect plenty of upcoming content. Anyone who missed the most recent patch, The Perfect Storm, can check out the patch notes here.
