German developer/publisher Daedalic Entertainment have announced State Of Mind
, a new action-adventure game that they are both making and publishing. Written by Martin Ganteföhr, the game is set in a dystopian Berlin in 2048. The world is beset by overpopulation, war, advanced digitising and government surveillance with robotics and cyber technology seemingly the causes of this global catastrophe. Humanity's escape in these trying times is virtual reality, where people go to live their lives in the peaceful, if perhaps unoriginally named, CITY 5. During one upload however, something goes wrong and one character, Richard Nolan, now exists both in the real world and partially in the virtual one. If all that sounds intriguing feel free to check out the trailer below.
The game will contain a variety of playable characters and narrative layers, with a multiple choice system influencing the game's world(s). Both the dystopian world of Berlin and the utopian CITY 5 will be fully explorable, and Daedalic have promised at least 20 hours of playtime.State Of Mind
is set to launch on Xbox One in the first quarter of 2017.
