As if the crawling, leaping and obnoxiously destructive team of worms present in Worms W.M.D.
was not enough cause for concern, they now apparently have the ability to craft new weapons on the battlefield.
Team17 just introduced this brand new crafting system during E3, and in the below trailer you can see how it really does add a whole new layer of strategy and fun to the classic Worms
In total, 35 'base' weapons exist in the game, but with the addition of the crafting system that number swells to over 80 different weapons and utilities.
Players start the game with a set amount of crafting ingredients, depending on the game mode chosen. As you play you can collect additional parts from crates scattered across the level or by scavenging and dismantling existing weapons, at which point you can then build new weapons and utilities to attack the opposing players.
You can craft anytime during your turn, or in between turns during an online match while the opposing team makes their move. The developers also gave a few examples of new weapons (some of which were seen in the video) including: Party Balloon (yay?), Luzi, Electric Sheep (which we have covered before
), the Sticky Grenade, and the slightly scary sounding Concrete Angry Donkey.Worms W.M.D.
is currently set for a release on Xbox One and Windows 10 later this year.
