Forza Horizon 3 Interview at E3

Forza Horizon 3 was finally announced at Microsoft's E3 press conference earlier this week and since then official details have been sparse. Today we finally got a new look at the game in the form of an interview with lead developer Ralph Fulton with Playground Games who's happy to reveal many new details on the game.

The Horizon festival is moving to Australia. Playground chose the location because they want to deliver diversity and Australia really captures that. It's twice as diverse as the other games. You'll have highrises for the first time, beaches, jungles, the Outback, and more. The entire world is also twice as large as Forza Horizon 2.

Showcases will return and they'll continue to be a huge highlight. They always try to make the showcases more spectacular than the one before. On the show floor, you're in a dune buggy in a race against a Jeep with a twist - the Jeep is being carried by a giant two-rotor helicopter that will drop it right in front of the finish line. Playground is aiming to make each showcase at least that exciting.

New vehicles will be plentiful. Of course, there is the Lamborghini Centanario (the interview below has a few minutes dedicated to that alone if you're interested). Off-road racing while finally be a focus in the base game instead of simply being DLC. There are many new vehicles that are bred to deal with the off-roading from buggies to trophy trucks. There are many more barn finds than ever before to encourage fans to get out in the world. Finally, there's also a tip of the hat to the Australian car scene so some famous cars will be available in the game.

The story is a bit different in the sequel as well. In the previous two games, you were always a nobody who had to rise to the top and eventually become the champion of the festival. This time around you start at the top - you're actually the organizer of the entire event. You'll choose where to festival will expand and Playground assures there'll be plenty of decisions to make.

Forza Horizon 3 will launch September 27th for Xbox One and Windows 10 via the Play Anywhere program. You can get four days of early access if you purchase the Ultimate Edition.
