Codemasters has been bringing us an F1 title nearly every year for a while now and this year is no different. Today we got new details on F1 2016's multiplayer mode as well as new screenshots and two new trailers.

For the first time, the game's multiplayer will support 22 players. This change is one of many that Codemasters has made to get the game as close to the real sport as possible. In addition to manual starts in the grid and the safety car, the 22 player races will be key to creating the experience according to Principle Games Designer Lee Mather:

We strive to create a game that is as close to the actual sport as possible. We have listened to the feedback from our community and that has resulted in us introducing the Safety Car, Virtual Safety Car, Formation Lap, manual race starts and the host of other gameplay features that get us even closer to the real sport and add to the experience for the player.

Increasing the multiplayer support to 22 players was extremely important to us...We want to be able to fill the whole grid with human players to create those great race moments and stories. It also provides greater support for online leagues.
With the news, we also get a host of new screens from the game's Austrian circuit:

Finally, there are two new gameplay videos. The first is a hot lap at Silverstone:

The next is a general trailer to get you amped up for the game:

F1 2016 releases on August 19th for Xbox One.
