Trion Worlds' F2P Voxel MMORPG Trove is Coming to Consoles

A new MMORPG is coming to consoles courtesy of the acclaimed developers of Rift on PC and Defiance. It's a voxel MMO called Trove. If you're unsure what a voxel is, it's a form of 3D modeling which is most popularly used by Minecraft. You can see the similarity in the images.

Despite visual similarity to Minecraft, the gameplay is what you'd expect from an MMORPG. You pick a class and then move between various zones while returning home to a hub world. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock new zones which drop better quality loot. Speaking of loot, only three of the item slots come from loot (hat, weapon, and mask). The rest of the items come from vendors, crafting, or in-game achievements. Interestingly enough, almost all loot is also account-bound and can be shared between all of your characters. That should make having a second character much less burdensome.

You can take a look at the reveal trailer here:

Trove is currently set to come to Xbox One later this year.
