Ana Patch Coming to Overwatch Soon and We've Got a New Developer Update

By Kevin Tavore, 1 year ago
Last week Blizzard officially unveiled Ana Amari as the newest hero in Overwatch: Origins Edition. The announcement also came with some pretty major changes to Zenyatta, D.Va, and competitive play. You can take a look at that article for those details, and we'll have a new article once official patch notes are released.

The patch is live on PC however, which means today we've got a new developer diary detailing the reasoning behind many of the game's changes. The diary is hosted by game director Jeff Kaplan.

If you're only interested in some of the topics, you can take a look at the timestamps below:

  • 0:04 - Welcome from Jeff Kaplan
  • 0:10 - Introducing Ana
  • 0:55 - The philosophy behind Ana's design
  • 5:09 - Balance adjustments on Zenyatta
  • 5:55 - Balance adjustments on D.Va
  • 7:05 - Balance adjustments on Mercy
  • 7:54 - Potential future adjustments for McCree
  • 8:22 - A brief explanation of the development team's decision-making process
  • 8:55 - Hero limits on Competitive Play
  • 11:30 - Your feedback is affecting Overwatch
Kaplan says the patch is coming to consoles "soon." Let's hope it's sooner rather than later. Some of Ana's skins are tied to in-game achievements, so there's certainly a chance we'll get some title update achievements for Overwatch. However, it is important to note that Blizzard's other console game, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition, has received many major content patches which added in-game achievements without any title updates.
