Gears of War 4 Shows Off Its Updated Beta Maps

By Kelly Packard, 1 year ago
At the end of April we got our first taste of Gears of War 4 through its multiplayer beta. Though it is the current fad to release a finished product a few days before launch and call it a "beta" (looking at you Overwatch), this was a true beta: the graphics weren't fully fleshed out yet, it only had three maps and nearly six months to go until launch. Rod Fergusson, Studio Head of The Coalition, almost called it an "alpha."

Those three maps were played to death over the course of the weeklong beta. The Coalition has released video flythroughs of Dam, Harbor and Foundation to show off their new, polished versions. We've included shots of the maps during beta so you can compare.

We'll get to explore the updated maps ourselves when Gears of War 4 launches on October 11th. Owners of the Ultimate and Collectors Editions or Limited Edition Gears of War 4 Xbox One S will receive early access on October 7th.
