Dead Rising 4 Behind the Scenes: Bigger, Badder and Better

In a new video, Studio Director Joe Nickolls, Executive Producer Bryce Cochrane and Art Director Geoff Coates were asked to answer the question "Why do you love Frank West?" None of them were able to do it without a slew of expletives. They also discussed the upcoming features of Dead Rising 4, which as we know has an emphasis on "more." More zombie types, more zombies period, more weapons and more mayhem can all be seen in the behind-the-scenes footage.

In the video we get a peek at two new zombie types in addition to the regular horde zombies. One is called the "freshly infected," newly-bitten survivors which are energized and unpredictable after having just transformed into zombies. There are also the new "Evo" zombies. These zombies think, dodge and predict your attacks as well as hide behind cover — a new breed entirely.

Nickolls also says there is a "better mystery to solve" than the previous games. As we know from the cheeky Jingle Bell Rock Trailer, Dead Rising 4 is set during the holidays when the Willamette Mall is in full consumerism mode. Like the other games, anything you can pick up can be used as a weapon, so the holiday environment provides a barrage of weapons honoring the holiday spirit. The new military Exo Suit also allows for a new array of combinations. The video gives the example of combining a Slushee machine with the suit and spraying zombies with it.

Xbox also promised in a blog post that next month we'll be able to see the pre-order bonuses. After that, there's not too long to wait for Dead Rising 4. The game is out on December 6th on Xbox One and Windows 10.
