Earlier this week we heard rumors of a possible Darksiders
re-release for current-gen systems. This news might have been surprising at some point, but considering a Darksiders II
remaster already exists in the form of Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition
, it was really just a matter of time until its predecessor joined the ranks. Now officially announced
, like Deathinitive Edition
, the remaster is being published by Nordic Games and will feature an amped-up name: Darksiders Warmastered Edition
War. War never changes. Unless of course it's remastered.
The original Darksiders
centered around its protagonist War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Accused of upsetting the sacred balance between Heaven and Hell, War embarks on a journey to bring to justice those rightfully responsible.
In addition to all the features originally contained in the game — awesome weaponry, apocalyptic powers, character progression, discovery and boss fights — Warmastered Edition
will feature 60 frames per second gameplay, native 1080p resolution, double the texture resolutions of the original as well as better visuals and rendering.
It's not much to go on, but Nordic has released a small handful of screenshots:
At the time of writing, Darksiders Warmastered Edition
has no release date yet but according to its publisher it is "coming soon."
