Some of you may have wondered why constant FIFA
cover star Lionel Messi was not on the cover of FIFA 17
, with that distinction instead going to Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus
. Well, this latest announcement from Konami - developers of the Pro Evolution Soccer
series - may well have something to do with that as they have partnered with Messi's club, the Spanish giant, FC Barcelona.
With this new partnership, Konami have been granted extensive access to the Barcelona players - with techniques such as 3D face-scanning allowing the players to look more detailed than ever in the upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2017
In addition to the players themselves, the club's home of Camp Nou is covered in this partnership. As well as the PES games receiving advertisement at the stadium, Konami also have exclusive rights to recreate the stadium.
As you may expect when partnering with arguably the biggest club in the world, FC Barcelona is set to feature in a lot of the game's marketing. In this first trailer for Pro Evolution Soccer 2017
, Barcelona are the focus.
Of course, Barcelona also features on the box with both the Camp Nou and the players making up the cover.
One final detail was revealed and that was the release date. Pro Evolution Soccer 2017
- with Barcelona at the forefront - will launch on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 13th in North, Central and South America and September 15th worldwide.
