Gaming Session Availability Times

By Rich Stone, 1 year ago
Hi all

Yesterday, I promised to attempt to deliver a new feature every day this week in the inaugural Rich Stone TrueAchievements Hack-a-thon!

I'm here to announce the first of those developments...

Gaming Session Availability Times

Gaming sessions are a huge part of TrueAchievements - over the last 8 years or so we've run well over half a million sessions, helping over 50,000 members of the site to earn millions of online achievements.

What are gaming sessions?

Gaming sessions, in case you don't already know, are sessions created to get a group of people together to help each other to unlock particular achievements. You can see all the upcoming sessions on the Gaming Session Calendar.

Hover over a session to see the summary of the session, or click on it for a full breakdown of the session details.

You can filter the calendar to just show just games you own and just achievements you need, along with various other settings. We also have various settings for you to receive notifications. Because they are so many of these, we have now moved them to a new page - Gaming Session Settings. You can get to this on the new tab on the My Settings page.

The page is divided into Calendar Settings at the top:

Followed by the Notification Settings:

Hover over the information icons next to each setting to get more information on what they do.

If you choose Yes to the final setting - Only notify me for sessions during the times below - you will be able to set up the grid below for the times you are available:

You can click on the time slots or days to select the entire row.

Once you've set this up and saved it, you will only receive notification for sessions during those times - no more emails for sessions at 4am!

Please note: session times will be converted to your local time before we determine if you should receive a notifcation about them.

Information on how to add games to your Notification Boost List are on the right of the Gaming Session Settings page.

I hope you find this feature helpful, I'll hopefully be back tomorrow with another update!
