Overwatch Season 1 Competitive Rewards Announced

By Kelly Packard, 4 months ago
You've had your eye on that shiny golden gun for your favorite Overwatch character for months, and the end of Season 1 might just provide you with that CP boost to finally obtain it.

Season 1 is almost drawing to a close in competitive play. Whether you're skill rank 0 or 65+, you will be rewarded for competing in the inaugural season. A little while back, Blizzard announced that everyone who completed their placement matches would be receiving a special spray and player icon. This is still true. Additionally, if at any point you were ranked among the top 500 players (on your platform and region, not worldwide), you will receive an additional icon and animated spray.

Then — and this is what most players were waiting for — there is the CP boost that you receive upon completion of the season based on your rank. As most Overwatch players know, CP stands for "competitive points," which are obtained for winning competitive matches. Grinding these through matches alone is incredibly time consuming, especially since you need 300 of them to obtain an ooh-la-la shiny golden gun, so a nice boost will be very welcome at the end of the season.

Based on highest Skill Ranking, the following CP will be awarded:

  • SR 0-39: 10 CPs
  • SR 40-45: 20 CPs
  • SR 46-49: 40 CPs
  • SR 50-52: 60 CPs
  • SR 53-55: 80 CPs
  • SR 56-59: 120 CPs
  • SR 60-64: 200 CPs
  • SR 65+: 300 CPs

One important thing to note is that all the rewards will be based on your highest Skill Ranking throughout the season. So if you've been avoiding playing for fear of ranking down, you don't have to.

Season 1 officially ends on Wednesday, August 17 at 5:00 p.m. PT. Blizzard has announced Overwatch's Season 2 for a September 6th launch, but emphasizes this date could change at any time due to their continual tweaks made to the game. One of the changes we already know about is the removal of sudden death.

You can view Blizzard's official announcement about the end of Season 1 here. As of this writing, you've got just under two weeks to get your Skill Ranking where you want it to be.
