Geralt's saga may have ended with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
, but players' favorite in-game card game is just getting started with its own standalone release. CD Projekt Red's E3 announcement for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
promised a beta this fall. Though this is still happening, it has been announced
it will be a little later than the original anticipated September date.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
In a news post, CD Projekt Red said the following:
At E3 we announced that we’d launch the Closed Beta of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game in September. Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing. We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline. Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t realize that delays can be disappointing, and we apologize for making you wait. Closed Beta will now begin on October 25th.
There are two positives to this situation. One, you now have extra time to sign up for the beta if you have not done so previously using this link
. Two, we now have an exact date of October 25th for the beta, which is exclusive to Xbox One and PC. According to CD Projekt Red, gamers will be selected and invited to the beta in waves. The full release of Gwent
does not currently have a release date.
