Four Screenshots and a Trailer for Top-Down Racer Mantis Burn Racing

Though Gamescom is a mecca for big-budget titles, it's also an opportunity for smaller games to appeal to a new audience. If you missed its announcement last month, Mantis Burn Racing is an upcoming top-down racer that wants to bring the genre back to its former glory. It's got all the tools to do so — four-player splitscreen, eight-player online, RPG-style progression and upgrades, a full career mode, global leaderboards and more — but whether it succeeds is up to gamers to decide.

The development team at VooFoo Studios will be at Gamescom this week from August 17th-19th. Though the title is currently in Early Access on Steam, for the first time console gamers at the event will be able to test out the game in the form of the PlayStation 4 version.

Mantis Burn Racing doesn't have a release date yet, but is racing toward a 2016 launch.
