Halo Wars 2 Has A New Playable Map At Gamescom

By Sam Quirke, 1 year ago
Creative Assembly are at Gamescom, and they've brought Halo Wars 2 along with them. Fans in Cologne will get the chance to see and play the latest multiplayer map to be revealed, called "Rift", which apparently offers a range of tactical options to the armchair general:

At the heart of this exciting new map sits a monolithic Forerunner structure that harnesses the power from the subterranean networks beneath the Ark’s surface. Whilst one half of the map is unsullied by war, the other is pitted with large breaches in the surface as the Banished tunnel downwards to plunder the core’s precious resources.
The developer is still keen to make Halo Wars 2 the game fans want to play, as they have re-stated their intention to take on board all of the feedback from the recent Beta and make adjustments where needed. We've already covered the specific changes that Creative Assembly have detailed so far, but the team reiterated that "we want to squeeze every last tweak and feature in".

For those of us not able to attend Gamescom, we can at least appreciate a few new screenshots below, and look ahead to another Beta that should be coming to Windows 10 and Xbox One players early next year.

Halo Wars 2 is expected to launch on February 21st, 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10.
