Sci-Fi Horror Phantaruk Announced For Xbox One

In space, no one can hear you scream. We learned that fact decades ago, but games keep reminding us with spacey horror titles like Dead Space and Syndrome. A new one is coming too, the mysterious Phantaruk. Developed by Polyslash, the trailers below definitely give the strangely titled thriller an Alien tone, though there's also a lot of weird symbology and maybe religious overtones too, a la Dead Space.

The story details are sparse and present some familiar tropes -- a vanished crew, a mysterious creature lurking, dwindling resources. Hopefully the end result can stand on its own among the aforementioned likely inspirations for the game. Managing health and flashlight batteries while stealthily avoiding contact with enemies are key aspects of Phantaruk, so it'll help you in the long run if you use this development time to get familiar with air vents.

No launch date or even window was announced just yet, though it's out now for Steam, priced at $12.99. An Xbox One version is in the works. Look for more in the months ahead, and keep that flashlight lit.
