A classic social media chain-letter is to share the six people that you'd want by your side should the zombie apocalypse come to pass. I take this kind of thing way too seriously, so I have conducted my own research.
I've decided that the best thing to have with you when the shuffling hordes approach is a walking zombie encyclopedia, someone who has seen every movie and played every game. Like Scream's
Randy Meeks, someone who knows the genre inside out might just keep you from getting turned inside out.
With this in mind, I think II Kazz II
would make a great ally in a real life Walking Dead
situation. As you'll see below, not only does he have an impressive collection of everything zombie related, he's also a crack hand at video games. That might not be quite so handy post-Apocalypse, but hey, you take what you can get!
Let's visit him now in his heavily-trapped underground anti-zombie bunker, and have a quick chat before the next wave of brain-eaters tries to peel the door off the hinge.
Let's start as always with your gamertag. Why II Kazz II? II Kazz II
Back in 2000 Deus Ex came out for PC. Not a lot of people realized but there was a download that added Multiplayer to the game. Deus Ex MP was amazing. I joined a team called Evolution [Evo] and initially my name was [Evo]Karl - Karl being my real name, it didn't look right though, so I changed it to [Evo]Kazz which sounded better, to me at least. When I was younger a few friends used to call me Kazz, and since then, EvoKazz has become my online persona on various formats. And your gamerpic - any particular story behind that one?
Zombies, and gaming, the perfect combination! How long have you been gaming? What's your earliest memory of a game?
I started gaming since I was about 5, someone gave me an old Atari made of wood (yes, it was really made of wood).
We didn't have much money back then and the only games I had was PAC-MAN and Moon Patrol, but they kept me hooked for a long time. This was the starting point for my love of gaming, I have pretty much owned every console released since then (yes even the Atari Jaguar - even though I was probably the only person that bought one!). I would of never thought 31 years down the road I'd still be hooked.Tell us about your home/family life. What do they make of your gaming?
What are you doing when you're not gaming? What pays the bills, and what are your hobbies?
I'm 36 and I have 4 children. My son is 11, also a gamer in the making, he has cerebal paulsy on his left side, so can't hold the controller the traditional way, he does a fantastic job though and has invented his own unique way of playing and powers through. One of my daughters is 17, she used to game, and still dabbles in games like the Telltale series, she is a huge fan of Life is Strange
. My other 2 daughters don't game yet, they are twins and only 11 months old. Although they do reach for the controller every chance they get! My girlfriend Kerrie only plays mobile games, she's been great through the hours and hours of boosting I have done, it's never caused huge problems, touch wood! Providing I do my bit around the house first.
Due to doing bad in school, I've essentially become a housewife! My girlfriend has far better prospects than me, so she usually works whilst I look after the children, which is a full time job in itself. Gaming has took a slight nose dive since the twins came along, but they are awesome so it's win win! I also suffer from Agoraphobia, so it makes more sense for me to be at home, it just works for us as a family. What real life achievement would you like to give yourself some Gamerscore for? Tell us about it.
Regarding hobbies, I'm a geek at heart, and love playing around with tech, I'm a huge Movie/TV fan and collect BluRays. My current count is 1059 Blu Rays, funny thing is when I want to watch a movie, I can never decide what to watch so usually end up back on the XBOX or PS4. I love everything Zombie related! So any media associated with the genre has my interest!
This ones easy! and probably cliche, but being a Dad, if there's one thing in life that's worthy of real life GS, it's parenthood, and the ups and downs it brings! What’s your favorite game of all time on any console, and why?
I'm going to have to go back to Deus Ex here, not only for the MP mentioned above, but the campaign was fantastic. It was way ahead of it's time. Everything about the game from the soundtrack, to the weapons was spot on. We just won't talk about that terrible sequel that crushed everyone's will to live! You have some impressive leaderboard rankings, particularly in England and Europe. Is there a particular one that matters more for you than others? Are you going for #1 in any?
Thanks, my goal was to reach #1 on the Manchester UK leaderboard, which I did awhile back, one of my friends was #1 for a long time, but luckily for me, he took a break from XBOX and I zipped past him :)If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My main focus is on completion % which is currently 99%.
What part of the world do you live in? What would you recommend to a visitor, and what kind of game would you set there?
It would need to be a huge game, open world, with a huge community, with so much to do, it has to be Grand Theft Auto V
Any games you regret putting on your gamertag? What is your proudest Xbox achievement, and why?Do you have a favourite – one you found particularly enjoyable?
I live in England, there's some stunning countryside here, like the Lake District etc, we also have some great historic places so those would be the first things that come to mind. Regarding games, I always said an Assassins Creed
game set here would be awesome, and now we have Assassin's Creed Syndicate
which I loved. A GTA
game based in London would be interesting, but I would like it to be set around 60's or 70's, not modern day.
Which 100% completion are you most proud of, and why?
Easily the Heists in GTA5
, we had such a laugh trying to beat those. The group I often play with we never take things to seriously, and the amount of times we failed in hilarious fashion was crazy.
Do you have any particular gaming pet peeves? The Warlord achievement in Far Cry 2 worth 442 pointsAchieve Rank 30 (Ranked Match)
Although Ninja Gaiden 2
was a monster of a game, I loved playing it. One of the 100%'s that caused me most grief was Far Cry 2
. I started it pretty late, and the MP achievements are brutal, what's worse is each game has an XP cap, so boosting is almost useless. But due to starting late, nobody was playing anyways! I decided to boost the entire MP level up achievements in one game. This was essentially a 40 hour boosting session....solo....with a disconnect having the potential to ruin the whole thing! Whats worse is to do the method I used you needed 3 XBOX's, 3 Games, 3 TV's etc, I powered through it though, but what a nightmare. So happy when the game was done!
People usually talk about online here, and people doing this and that, my biggest peeve is DLC done wrong. Being a completionist any DLC at any given time can ruin a completion for me, I do love DLC, but when devs drop something terrible like in Need For Speed 2015, it's really disappointing. I'd also have to say Micro-transactions, they are a curse on the gaming world. What is your favourite aspect of gaming, or being a gamer? What keeps you playing?
Achievements, since discovering them, they are always the main drive to keep building that score. But truth be told, I love the industry even though it has it's bad moments. I'd still be playing if achievements didn't exist. What upcoming game are you most looking forward to?What game(s) are you currently playing? How are you finding it?
Now, let's put you in a game. What would your character build be? What skills would you have?
I've just finished up Far Cry Primal
which I thought was a great game, achievements were relatively simple, and the setting was fantastic. Another 100%
You can bring along one weapon and one character from another game to help you out. What are your choices and why?
The dude from Prototype
, while the game wasn't phenomenal, his powers were epic! But I would really want the Neons from Infamous First Light
What enemy or boss would you really hope to avoid?
I'd bring the Chains Of Olympus (God Of War
) just because their so awesome, I'd probably need to borrow the Grapple from Just Cause 3
as well. Obviously I'd have Solid Snake sniping from a stealth position.
Explosive Shuriken Throwing Ninja's (Ninja Gaiden 2) I'd be stuck in an endless loop of spamming projectiles!Any characters you would like seen thrown into video game hell?Apart from infinite lives, what gameplay feature do you wish you could make use of in real life?
Mario & Mushrooms, eating a mushroom and doubling in size would be a fantastic party trick.Do you prefer single player or multi-player?
Single Player, I hate having to rely on other people to get achievements.Do you have a favorite group of friends you like to play with in multi-player? If so, how did you meet?
I have a ton of friends on XBL, but usually play with a small group, it used to be a lot more regular than now, but most of us seem to focus on SP games more nowadays, but they are still there if boosting is needed. That and I have 2 babies now as well!Any particularly memorable online experiences - good or bad?
If you could have a gaming session with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I've had some strange run-ins online, as have most people. I recall someone on my friends list joining my party a few years back (I hardly knew them) and they was crying down the mic because Pure Time Trials DLC
had been added to Mirror's Edge
, and he couldn't do it. That was an awkward moment! We saw some strange sights on UNO (Xbox 360)
when going for those achievements! I also saw someones willy in Burnout Paradise
after knocking them off the road, that Live Vision Camera has a lot to answer for.
Chuck Norris - Tekken - I may have a chance to tell the world I just kicked Chuck Norris's butt!Outside of games, what are your other media habits? Do you have favourite books, TV series, movies or podcasts?
I used to read a lot when I was younger, with my favourite books being Jurassic Park, and The Descent. Movie wise I love everything, I can watch a terrible movie and pick some good from it. TV shows are big in our house right now. We are just getting through Orange Is The New Black, but huge fans of Grimm, Game Of Thrones, Walking Dead, Bones and many many more. Netflix are doing amazing things with shows right now, Daredevil blew me away, as did Jessica Jones. We are also fans of WWE and UFC.And Luke Cage is just around the corner! Is there a book, movie or TV show that you'd really like to see adapted into a game, or vice versa? I'll accept ones that have tried and failed, but only if you tell me how you'd fix it!
I'd love to see a version of Breaking Bad, made by Rockstar. I think the Underworld movies could be amazing video games if handled right.Have you ever had a game you really looked forward to, but let you down when you played it? Equally, have you had any pleasant surprises from games you took a gamble on?
Far Cry PrimalTell us about your gaming set-up.
was a nice surprise, many said it was a reskin of Far Cry 4
, while I agree to a degree, I found it hugely enjoyable. My biggest let down would be Deus Ex Invisible War
In the main room my entertainment setup consists of:
Samsung KS8000 SUHD 4K HDR TV
Denon AVRX2200 4K HDR AV Receiver
5.1 Surround using Q Acoustics Speakers
XBOX One Elite (SSD)
Sony Blu Ray Player (Chipped to play BR's from around the world)
WDTV Media Server
I'm looking to upgrade Sky to Sky Q, and get a full 4K Blu Ray Player when money permits. I'm also waiting for the PS4KNeo and XBOX Scorpio. I think at some point I'll ditch the WDTV and get a Roku 4 when they are cheaper in the UK.
My son's room consists of:
Samsung 40" 3D Full HDTV
Sony Blu Ray Player
XBOX One 1TB
And my daughter's:
Samsung 40" 3D Full HDTVHow do you primarily use TA? (Tracking, walkthroughs, solutions, sessions?)
Samsung Blu Ray Player
XBOX 360 Slim
All of the above, the automated tracking is a winner for me, makes everything so much easier. I have used TA sessions from the get go. TA is an essential tool for any achievement collector. How has your gaming changed or evolved since coming to TA?
The main aspect is not shying away from a game that has MP, I know someone somewhere on TA will also need help so it makes the whole online MP much easier. What do you like about TA? Anything you would change?
The community is fantastic for help and advice. There's not anything I would change really to be honest, I'd like to maybe see more achievements in the TA app.How did you learn about TA? Have you signed up any friends to the website?
I've directed many users here over the years. TA is a leader when it comes to achievements, as soon as I started collecting them, it was only a matter of days before I was directed here (I think it was via Google) and signed up right away. Never looked back.Have you made friends here?
Yes! My friends list is full to the max limit, and I would estimate a good 70% are from TA.Imagine your perfect game, tailor-made just for you. What would it be like?
Anything in particular on that perfect game soundtrack?
I'd love a GTA5 style game but with Hitman
style stealth areas, open world racing with the depth of Forza Horizon Series
. Total customization, awesome story, and a pumping soundtrack. Maybe throw in a hint of Saints Row
craziness to boot!
I love music and it's a huge part of my life, I listen to a wide range of genres, so the possibilites would be endless in my dream game. Rock/Trance & Hip Hop for Racing, Classical Orchestra for stealth, and current and classic music for the open world! As long as there's some Lacuna Coil, Eyes Set To Kill, Pusha T, Tiesto and 2 Chainz in there I'd be happy! What kind of achievements do you like to see in a new list? Any common achievement types that you find especially irritating?
I despise grindy achievements that are there for the sake of it, I like an achievement list to reward you for doing the campaign, and go that extra mile to fully explore the game and it's mechanics. Getting 1000 kills, or collecting 1000 items is just lazy. I don't mind collectibles, if done right. What games would you say had good use of collectibles?
Do you have a “claim to fame” in gaming, other than your leaderboard rankings? If so, what is it?
Any game that rewards you for the collectibles by giving XP or something. Far Cry Primal
gave you XP everytime you collected something, which made it more rewarding. Bioshock's
collectibles were awesome as they delved deeper into the story. I also enjoyed the Batman Arkham Series
Riddler trophies, and the way you had to solve a puzzle to unlock them.
Not really, Microsoft did give me a free XBOX One on launch, and I received the Rockstar Key To The City for maxing Grand Theft Auto IV
in a certain timeframe, not really claims to fame, but proud moments I share too often!

I'm just another gamer like everyone here, but always willing to boost with dedicated people.
Is there anything I haven’t asked that you want to talk about?
Zombies....there's always room for more Zombie talk!Alright, Zombie talk it is! I'll make it tough... Name your top 3 zombie experiences and tell us why. So you can have books, comics, TV series, films, games, or something more abstract. Go!
Let's talk specifics. Tell us about some of your favourite videogame zombies, whether they are specific characters or bosses, or just the games with the best design for their shuffling hordes.
When I first got an XBOX 360, I booted up Dead Rising
, I was blown away by the sheer amount of Zombies on screen, I was in heaven! I must of spent a good hour going on a killing spree before I even got into the game properly!
One of my favorite movie experiences with zombies was the Dawn Of The Dead
Remake (I know there are better movies out there) but for a remake this was a fantastic movie. One scene I thought was pure brilliance is in the opening, when a zombie is chasing the women as she drives away from her home, he's running like crazy, then spots an easier target, and changes direction instantly to go eat the victims face! It was stylish and had comedy value.
For TV (You saw this coming) it has to be The Walking Dead
, the sheer depth and brilliance of this series is epic, I do feel the series is somewhat scared to kill off certain characters, and the makers seem to take the cowards way out sometimes, but overall the series is pure awesome. I think Fear The Walking Dead
deserves more credit than it receives as well, excellent spin off.
Resident EvilAny shout-outs you want to make before we go?Thanks to II Kazz II for taking the hot seat this week. I know who to call on if there's a zombie bearing down on me and I think 1000 Blu Rays might distract it...
's Dogs, from the original PSOne version, walking down the corridor and have them smash through the window was just awesome, as a child I nearly leapt through the ceiling, I don't think I have jumped as much to this day! I think Dying Light
did a fantastic job with their zombie design, it had a great mixture of fast, slow, brute and everything in between. But for tense moments, I think Left 4 Dead
nailed the atmosphere and danger its enemies present, the slightest noise and the undead would rain on you! As said above, I dislike MP games, but L4D
was a great experience.
