Featuring six playable characters from recognizable Cartoon Network TV shows, a silly plot in line with any of today's cartoon series, and four-player cooperative multiplayer, Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers
was one of the announcements we saw come out of Gamescom week
Our story begins when Uncle Grandpa of Uncle Grandpa
accidentally bumps a switch on his RV that creates a tear in the universe. Together, characters from other cartoons must band together to fight well-known Cartoon Network villains. There are six playable characters in the lineup: Uncle Grandpa, Finn and Jake from Adventure Time
, Rigby and Mordecai from Regular Show
title character Clarence, Gumball from The Amazing World of Gumball
and Steven Universe's
very own Steven. Finn and Jake together will compose one character and Rigby and Mordecai will make up a combined character as well.
gameplay is decribed as side-scrolling action, featuring boss fights as well as "light" RPG elements like character progression and customization. Certain characters will be able to exploit certain enemies' weaknesses, and characters can be seamlessly switched between, so players will have to think on the fly as to which character the situation calls for.
An extra mode called "Bonkers" will allow players to mix it up by replaying levels with new challenges added in. The game will be single player or drop-in/drop-out local co-up for up to four players.
Though it doesn't currently have a launch date, Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers
is punching for a November 2016 release window on Xbox One.
