From exploring cold and icy depths to fighting dangerous Withers and using new commands to streamline the process, players of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta
and the various Minecraft: Pocket Editions
will get some new experiences later this Fall.
The 'Boss Update', as it is being called, will play host to a variety of items. In no particular order, the additions announced thus far are:
- Ocean Monuments will be discoverable, and will contain the Elder Guardian boss and its sea creature Guardians...which have laser beams attached to their heads.
- The Wither boss battle will be making an appearance, which allow players to summon the beast and earn nether stars, which will let you craft beacons.
- With these new additions come new items and blocks, including the aforementioned beacons, sea lanterns, prismarine blocks and sponges.
- Finally, slash commands are coming. These will let players make quick changes without having to go through a menu. Examples such as changing the time of day or weather quickly, summoning a mob at your will, or going quickly between creative and survival mode were mentioned by the developer Mojang.
This update will be free when it releases later this year and there is a public beta being hosted on Minecraft: Pocket Edition (Android)
that started just yesterday.
It was also teased that more features from this update will be unveiled come September when MINECON occurs, so stay tuned to TrueAchievements for all of that news once it releases.
