South Park's Nosulus Rift VR Left Quite An Impression at Gamescom

By Mark Delaney, 1 year ago
Days before Gamescom, Ubisoft produced what seemed like a joke ad to promote South Park: The Fractured but Whole. "Introducing the Nosulus Rift", it stated, before revealing an olfactory-focused VR device. Wearing it over your nose was meant to "enhance" the gameplay experience with The Fractured But Whole. What Gamescom attendees soon discovered was the terribly smelly truth that the Nosulus Rift was real, if only for a weekend. Here's a recap of the stinkiest promotion since Geoff Keighley posed with Doritos and Mountain Dew.

Maybe this is what's missing to get VR technology off the ground and into the homes of gamers.

Nosulus Rift

To would-be early adopting weirdos, it might come as a disappointment that the Nosulus Rift is just clever marketing. When The Fractured But Whole hits stores on December 6th, you'll have to enhance your gameplay experience the old fashioned way.
