20 Minutes of Gears of War 4 Prologue Gameplay

By Ashley Woodcock, 1 year ago
The world, characters, storylines, gameplay, locations, and visuals of the Gears of War universe have been memorable, emotional, and most importantly to most fans, always satisfying enough to keep us hungry for more! Some passionate Gears fans may have even purchased and read some of the books that have been released covering different time periods of the Gears universe with stories following the most popular characters to the newly-introduced ones.

Gears of War 4 Screens 2

In this newly released gameplay video, we are treated to 20 minutes of uncut Gears of War 4 gameplay. Rather than focusing on the new main character, JD Fenix, who will shine in the upcoming title, The Coalition’s Studio Head Rod Fergusson and Lead Campaign Designer Matt Searcy take us through three decades of Gears history.

The first part sees good old Colonel Hoffman in action alongside Dom Santiago and a few Private COG soldiers as they raid a UIR base at Aspho Fields in an attempt to secure the Hammer of Dawn technology. The second part sees the horrors of Emergence Day unfold at the House of Sovereigns as Lieutenant Minh Young Kim does his best to help Hoffman's convoy stay intact as the Locusts are in hot pursuit. You'll remember the initial area in this scene from Gears of War. The third and final scene takes place 17 years after E-Day as Hoffman is back on the scene again but this time trying to defend Anvil Gate alongside Bernie (Bernadette Mataki).

What a fantastic trip down memory lane that was! Good to see Hoffman finally getting some rest, right?

Continue the story for yourself when Gears of War 4 releases on October 11th. Those with the Ultimate Edition of the title can dive into the fun four days early on October 7th.
