Yooka Laylee to Receive Physical Release

In a blog post appropriately titled "Thinking Inside the Box," Playtonic Games have detailed their plans to release a physical version for their Kickstarter-funded title Yooka-Laylee. For gamers familiar with Yooka's publisher, Team17, this probably doesn't come as much of a surprise, seeing as they have a history of releasing retail copies of games you'd expect to be digital-only (The Escapists, Worms W.M.D. and Overcooked, to name a few).

Yooka-Laylee 2

The good news for players who have already backed the various versions of Yooka-Laylee via its Kickstarter is that there will be an (albeit yet unannounced) way to upgrade your digital code to the physical copy if you choose. Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming announcement on how to do so if this is something you're interested in.

Playable demos at gaming conventions, the announcement of the physical release... Yooka-Laylee is starting to feel pretty darn close. It'll be out in early 2017 on Xbox One, Windows 10, and seemingly every other platform under the sun.
