Rockstar Games announced that Max Payne 3 will be coming to XBox 360 as well as PC and PS3 this winter. We haven't seen ol' Max around since 2003's Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne on the XBox. Other than a logo and the vague release date, not much exist on the game's official site at http://www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne3/but
you can sign up for the mailing list. Rockstar Vancouver will be handling the development this time around.
The first game introduced us to Max Payne, a DEA agent whose wife and daughter were killed by addicts of a designer drug. Max then goes undercover to try to get his revenge. The game was the first to use the now popular "bullet time" mechanic. In 2008, a movie starring Mark Wahlberg based on the game was released. No word on whether we'll see any talent crossover for this latest entry into the descent of Max Payne. Rockstar's founder, Sam Houser did reveal that "[t]his is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation." Does that mean that this is the last chapter in the Max Payne story?
