Sea of Thieves' Audio Team Discusses Their Squeaky, Creaky Soundtrack

Sea of Thieves seems to have a heavy musical element to it as we've seen in several videos, most recently here but also in the theme tune, and not just one but two soundtrack trailers.

When stranded on a desert island, keep your spirits up with a squeaky shanty! When stranded on a desert island, keep your spirits up with a squeaky shanty!

The fifth instalment of Rare's "Inn-Side Story" series about the game explores how Audio Director Jon Vincent and Head of Music Robin Beanland went about sourcing the instruments to use in the score, including confusing the local butcher.

Rare has also released the third instalment of their "Tales from the Tavern" round-table. The first part is a chat about community- and studio-related events, while the second part (at 20:20) focuses on questions for the tech art team, who we've seen working hard on the finer visual details over the past few weeks.

If you haven't seen much of this behind-the-scenes footage of Sea of Thieves yet... where have you been? You can start with what Sea of Thieves is all about, move on to how to make good water and understand better the challenges of making clouds look appropriately fluffy. As for me, I'm off to find that second-hand music shop in Birmingham as my life is missing a creaky accordion.

Sea of Thieves is still adrift without a release date but will eventually head for the shores of Xbox One and Windows 10.
