The world awoke today to a big red Rockstar Games logo without a caption or context, and now the internet is buzzing with daydreams of a Red Dead
announcement from the prolific studio. Rockstar tweeted out the bold red and somewhat weathered logo on Twitter and other platforms just a little while ago. After receiving 44K retweets and counting, no one is any closer to knowing what it means.
Obviously that's the same shade of red used for their open-world western, Red Dead Redemption
, and the slight wear of the logo definitely looks like something meant to appear decades old, like the wild west. Could this be the Red Dead
announcement fans have been waiting for? Or could it be something else -- perhaps a remaster of Redemption
Maybe the man in black can reveal what's coming for us.
Rockstar seems to have been slowly building to something involving the series even before this tease. Redemption
joined Xbox One's backwards compatibility list just a few months ago, an unconfirmed game map was seen online, unspecific mentions of forthcoming announcements have been made to investors, and the series' spiritual predecessor Red Dead Revolver
just last week arrived on PlayStation 4 with new trophy support.
How long we will have to wait to see this story play out, and what lies at the end of this Rockstar-filtered rainbow are things about which we can only speculate. So, for now, we might as well do that.
