Updated Version of Bastion Comes to Xbox One; Free for Owners of the 360 Version

By Kelly Packard,
Whether it be to choose the ending you didn't the first time, unwind to the addictive soundtrack after a long day, or just to feed directly into your eardrums that smooth, sweet narration, there are plenty of justified reasons to replay 2011's Bastion (Xbox 360). If an updated version were to be released on the Xbox One with 1080p resolution, new achievements and all DLC included, that'd be a solid reason too.

Fortunately for fans of the game, that is exactly what is on the horizon, Supergiant Games announced today via their website. Perhaps the best part of all is the news that it will be free for players who already own Bastion on Xbox 360.

They've also sprinkled in a few details about the upcoming release. According to Supergiant, this is no lazy port, and "the game has been re-built to feel native to the platform." As previously stated, it will be running in 1080p resolution as opposed to the 720p of the original version, contain the "Stranger's Dream" DLC, and have more achievements than just the 12 that composed the original Xbox Live Arcade list.

December 12th is the date to look out for for Bastion, but when it drops be sure to snap up your free copy ASAP if you owned it on Xbox 360 — the promotion will only be offered until January 1st of the new year. For everyone else, the going price will be US$14.99.

The devs also gave a warm shoutout to "all of you out there who love and remember Bastion." Psh. As if we had forgotten.
