The Division Prepares for Survival Expansion In New Trailer

By Ashley Woodcock,
A huge amount of changes and fixes went live for Tom Clancy's The Division a couple of weeks ago that aimed to fix many ongoing problems, improve the endgame and generally make the experience a lot more rewarding and enjoyable mainly for those not making a living in the game's Player vs Player area, the Dark Zone. If Update 1.4 was enough to draw you back into the snow-filled, virus-riddled world of Manhattan, or you've kept your faith in Massive the whole time anyway, then the official reveal of the game's second expansion will most certainly be of interest to you.

The Division Survival Screen

The "Survival" DLC was teased a few months ago during E3 but there wasn't a massive amount to go off in the video. In the newly released reveal trailer, we get to see how the extreme weather is taking its toll on the city and the struggling agents who are fighting for survival in the cold and dangerous conditions. To make matters worse, there's a new enemy threat that looks to cut the agents efforts short:

In "Survival", players will see their agent aboard a chopper in the middle of a rough snowstorm. The chopper goes down and now their agent must find their way to the Dark Zone to be extracted along with the information they have that could possibly cure the pandemic. Agents will need to find warm clothes, supplies, food, water, and medicine in order to help them survive. As if the environment wasn't hostile enough, players will need to keep an eye out for the 23 other agents trying to survive as well as the Hunters, "a new mysterious and deadly enemy" who will be much better equipped and one step ahead of the Division agents.

In Survival, players will be able to choose to enable either PvP or PvE. In PvP, while the Rogue mechanic does not apply, agents can fight against or cooperate with other players in every corner of New York, even outside of the Dark Zone. In PvE, players will be able to play in cooperation with other players, PvP is disabled, even in the Dark Zone.
A release date is yet to be announced for the "Survival" expansion in The Division. PC players, with the Season Pass for the respective version of the title, currently have the opportunity to test the upcoming expansion in Massive's Public Test Server from now until November 13th.
