Halo 15th Anniversary Teaser

By Kelly Packard,
Tuesday, November 15th will be the 15th anniversary of the prolific Halo franchise, a series that holds a special place in the hearts of many now twenty-and-thirty-somethings worldwide. Along with hosting a Twitch stream on the 15th at 3:43 p.m. PST, 343 Studios will be adding an anniversary playlist to Halo 5: Guardians, offering giveaways for viewers, showing a walkthrough of the Halo Museum, and previewing upcoming content for Halo 5.

The Halo 5 "Anniversary Throwback" playlist will feature classic Halo: Combat Evolved maps that have been remade in Forge and will include the lethal Combat Evolved pistol. According to 343, some of them are community creations. 343 writes, "This is Halo 5 gameplay on sweet Forge re-creations of classic maps with the Halo: CE pistol as the starting weapon."

While in a blog post 343 reflects on the 15th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved and the 12th anniversary of Halo 2, curiously left out of the equation is the 9th anniversary of one of the series' most heralded titles, Halo 3, which recently passed. Some users are speculating there may be an announcement for Halo 3 to receive an anniversary edition when it celebrates the big 10 next year, since Halo: Combat Evolved received a 10th anniversary edition and Halo: The Master Chief Collection released within days of Halo 2's 10th anniversary, featuring an updated version of the 2004 title. Some fans are saying this is unlikely due to the Master Chief Collection releasing just over two years ago; others are saying it makes sense to honor Halo 3 properly due to the botched and buggy launch of the collection and its graveyard player counts in recent times. Not to mention, it'd be able to launch conveniently alongside the Scorpio console, which is due out sometime during holiday 2017.

01/03/15 - Top Five

Even without a remaster announcement, players can expect a day honoring the Halo series and a look at what's on the menu for Halo 5, which has previously been said to include more Warzone Firefight maps.

After what happened with MCC (Still not fully fixed, 2 years later) nope, hell no. They've tarnished Halo 2, they've tarnished the Halo franchise and I will happily play in 07 graphics than let 343 ruin one of the greatest games in history.

I liked the Halo 2 Anniversary, but I don't think that Halo 3 needs an anniversary edition. The graphics are good enough on it. I honestly have to say that all of the visuals 343 have done are much better than they used to be. Whether it be enemies, weapons, vehicles, and pretty much everything else.

Would be great but as has been said they have a horrible track-record with patching and fixing things. We don't need more broken Halo games.

I will say that if they don't wreck the art style, visuals or easter-eggs like they tend to do it would be great to see a proper Pelican, Banshee, Covenant aliens and Scorpion. Really miss the art-style of the older games, the Covenant have become hideous mutations over time.

Halo 3 was the last of the greats

Hand raised here also; I liked the remastered Halo 2 campaign and would get Halo 3 remastered based on that. I would also wish for 343 to throw in a a remastered version of ODST with it to make even more appealing.

Count me out of that. The only Halo games I've really loved were Halo 2 and ODST so I'm pretty happy with what we've got so far. I really don't need a Halo 3 remaster. I would like my saved data to stop disappearing in the MCC though. That'd be super.
Looking to boost any MP achievements I don't have for any game I own.

weird, got this cryptic crap from "Xbox Live" the other day, imagine it's related:

"Come celebrate 15 years of Xbox by playing with us on our anniversary date of November 15th!"

I'd honestly rather see it as a expansion on the MCC with a major update resolving issues currently on it.

I had A TON of fun with Halo 3 multiplayer. Played it a million times over and couldn't get bored by it. Those were the days...

On the other hand... Die Halo of Duty 5! Die promethean crap (but not by my tapping fingers)!
To do or not to do. THAT is the question.

It's always exciting to see anything new that's halo related.
